15th CMVM light microscopy course

5th/6th Jan 2016: Registration is now open for the next and 15th CMVM light microscopy course ‘Beyond pretty pictures’.

This course aims at teaching the basics and theoretical skills essential for the application of light microscopy. It targets every level of CMVM staff from post-graduate students to principal investigators. The course is divided into seven modules covering the most important topics of basic light microscopy (nature of light, basics of light microscopy, confocal microscopy, specimen preparation, image formation, image data analysis and advanced light microscopy techniques). The course is an initiative by the CALM imaging facility (with support from the SCRM Bio-imaging Facility and the CIP), aiming at researchers across the CMVM. All lectures will be held in the Old Medical School (Teviot Place, Anatomy Lecture Theatre, doorway 3) in the format of a two-day course. If you are interested in attending this course, please register asap by sending an informal e-mail to calm.head@ed.ac.uk. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis and the number of participants is limited to 30 per course to guarantee an informal and interactive format. There is a £70 fee to cover costs and teaching materials. If the coming course is over-subscribed or the dates do not suit you, I can pre-register you for the following 16th course (date to be announced).
