Lothian Teams: Please tell us your views on AFFIRM!

Dear Colleagues

AFFIRM has been going for a while now in Lothian and we’re keen to gather your views on how it’s going and hear your experiences of delivering advice to women in the community or assessing and monitoring women who present to DAU/Triage with reduced fetal movement.

If you’d like to take part in an interview about your experience of implementing AFFIRM and dealing with fetal movement please contact Dr Gemma Phillips, a researcher at the University of Edinburgh, who is capturing views and experiences of staff and women during the roll-out and evaluation.

The interview will only last around 45 minutes and Gemma can travel to your place of work if you have time within your day or before/after your shift. Alternatively you can meet on your day off in a place that is convenient for you.

We’re looking to hear from staff working in the Lothian area including DAU and Triage Midwives, Antenatal ward Midwives, Community Midwives, Sonographers, Consultants, Registrars.

Further information about this part of the AFFIRM evaluation and the interview process is attached. To ask any questions or register your interest in taking part please email gemma.phillips9@nhs.net.

Your views and experiences are vital for feeding back to the Scottish government about the AFFIRM guidelines so if you have things to say please get in touch.

We look forward to hearing from you. All the best.

Using research to ease the pain of stillbirth

The UK has one of the highest stillbirth rates in the industrialised world. But now a team from Manchester has published data which shows certain ethnic groups are more susceptible than others.
