Background

Senior Lecturer - University of Edinburgh (2001-present) Institute for Academic Development – part-time secondment (2015-17) Travelling Research Fellowship - University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia (2010)

I have two main, although different interests:

I have two main, although different interests: 1/ In the pedagogy of Higher Education, exploring student autonomy and choice to co-create their own curriculum through experiential, reflective learning and using portfolios.

This includes initiatives in the undergraduate medicine curriculum, where I am Director of Student Selected Components (SSCs), and an institution-wide initiative Student-Led, Individually-Created Courses (SLICCs), where students can define their own learning outcomes, surrounding the academic content around an agreed experience the student has developed;

2/ The signalling in the placenta, fetal membranes, uterus and cervix, for the maintenance of pregnancy and control of the initiation of labour.
