This handheld, waterproof mirror could make water births safer and easier for mothers and midwives. It has a flexible, long shaft to reduce bending and potential back injury, an integrated and waterproof light source to help midwives see more easily, and a longer handle to reduce exposure to contaminated water.

Dr Fiona Denison, who is a Consultant Obstetrician and Reader in Maternal and Fetal Health at MRC Centre for Reproductive Health, has been shortlisted as one of ten finalists out of 212 entries.

The winner will be announced on September 28th 2017 at a star studded Awards Ceremony in the Glasgow Science Centre.

Among the categories being contested this year is the Challenge’s KickStart Digital Entrepreneur Award – dedicated to internet marketing and entrepreneurialism and giving credit to the team or individual who pioneers the digital marketing of their project.
