MRC Festival of Medical Research

PRESERVING FUTURE FERTILITY – A SCHOOL EVENT. Calling all budding young scientists.

You’re invited to attend the MRC Centre for Reproductive Health (CRH) Festival

Do you see yourself as a future scientist? Are you interested in a career in science, research or medicine? Then read on…

On Tuesday 18 June 2019, CRH will welcome high school students age 16 – 18 years old to experience the research that goes on in our laboratories as well as taking part in interactive science based work stations, whilst learning more about one of our research topics, Fertility Preservation.

Date: Tuesday 18 June, 2019. Time: 1pm to 3.30pm.

Location: The Undergraduate Teaching Room, Chancellor’s Building, 49 Little France Crescent, Edinburgh, EH16 4SB and CRH laboratories.

Details: Experienced researchers will guide you through microscope activity, as you identify healthy and diseased cells. You’ll hear more about the ground-breaking research that takes place at CRH, visit our labs to get a taste of the work we do and some hands on experience, and take part in some science themed games to show how much fun research can be, with fantastic prizes up for grabs.

You’ll learn about Fertility Preservation research and how CRH is the first UK Centre to develop a fertility preservation programme to store testicular tissue from young boys with cancer prior to treatment, to give them the opportunity to become fathers in later life.

Throughout the event you’ll meet doctors, researchers, and histology experts. Attendees will receive refreshments and a bespoke goodie bag. This event is free of charge.
