In May 2017, Professor Pollard gave a talk at the RAIDS European Consortium, Institut Curie, Paris, France and in June 2017 he gave a Distinguished Guest Lecture at the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation at the University of Glasgow, and spoke at the BACR special conference: “The tumour microenvironment – basic science to novel therapies”, at the University of Nottingham.

The same month Jeffrey Pollard spoke at the 8th Abercrombie Meeting, Royal Microscopical Society, St Catherine’s College, in Oxford and gave a talk at the Cancer Research UK and OHSU Knight Cancer Institute 2017 Early Detection of Cancer Conference, CRUK Cambridge Institute.

In October 2017, Professor Pollard spoke at the Cold Spring Harbor Asia conference, Suzhou, China and gave a talk at the Klenk Symposium, University of Cologne, in Germany. The same month he spoke at the VIB macrophage symposium, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Brussels, Belgium.  

In November 2017, Professor Pollard was a Keynote Speaker at the 1st Symposium of the Occitanie Network Monocytes/Macrophages in Montpellier, France.   In December 2017, Professor Pollard gave a talk at the International Symposium of Cancer immunity and immunotherapy at the 46th Annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Immunology (JSI) in Sendai, Japan and delivered a distinguished Guest Lecture at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China.


In December 2016, Prof Pollard spoke at the 1st Doorstop session of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) “Cell Biology of Cancer” Symposium in San Francisco, USA. He also gave a talk at the Cell-VIB Symposium: Hallmarks of Cancer, which took place in Ghent, Belgium.

In November 2016 Prof Pollard gave a student invited lecture to the Immunology program at the University of Zurich and a seminar at the Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, University of Toronto, Canada.

In October 2016 Professor Pollard gave the Keynote talk at the 2nd Symposium on "Cellular Crosstalk in the Tumor Microenvironment" at the Georg-Speyer-Haus Institute for Tumor Biology and Experimental Therapy in Frankfurt, Germany and the Keynote at the "Tumour Infiltrating Myeloid Cell Compartment” Symposium at Leiden University in The Netherlands.

In September 2016, Jeffrey Pollard gave a talk at the Cell Symposium: 100 Years of Phagocytes held for the 100th anniversary of Metchnikoff’s death, at the Mario Teti Foundation in Messina, Sicily. He also spoke at the “31st Annual Critical Issues in Tumor Microenvironment Course: from Bench to Bedside to Biomarkers” at Harvard in Boston, USA.

In August 2016 Prof Pollard taught on the Croucher Course at the University of Hong Kong and gave a talk at the Croucher Symposium on “Advances in Immunology in Health and Disease” he also gave a seminar on “Macrophages: The Wnt connection” at Duke-NUS in Singapore".

In June 2016 Prof Pollard gave a major symposium talk entitled “Regulatory Myeloid Cells: from basic discovery to therapeutic application” at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia and gave a Distinguished Guest Lecture: Inflammation, Repair and Development Section, at the Imperial College of London.

In May 2016 Prof Pollard spoke at a Major symposium opening the American Society of Immunology meeting 2016 in Seattle. He also gave a lecture at the Charles Easton Seminar Series at the University of Toronto. He also spoke at the 1st National Symposium on "Immunology and Immunotherapy of Cancer" at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam and gave a talk at the Chemotactic Cytokines Gordon Research Conference in Gerona, Spain.

In April 2016 Prof Pollard participated, as a Chair of the scientific advisory board, to the RAIDS (Rapid Molecular Assessment Innovative Drug Selection) European consortium at the Curie Institute in Paris where he also delivered a seminar. The same month he also gave a talk at the Wellcome Researcher’s meeting: Molecular Mechanisms, Immunology and Parasitology, Edinburgh, UK and spoke at the CIMM/TME Joint Scientific Session, AACR Annual Meeting 2016 in New Orleans, US, he also gave a talk in the Dewitt Goodman Seminar series at Columbia University in New-York.

In January 2016, Professor Pollard gave a talk at the Miami Winter Symposium 2016 “Inflammation” in Miami, US.


In November 2015 Professor Pollard gave a talk at the Princess Takamatsu 46th International Symposium in Tokyo, Japan where he was introduced to his Imperial Highness Prince Hitashi. The same month he also organised and co-chaired the AACR Special Conference on Tumor Metastasis in Austin, Texas, US.

In October 2015, Professor Pollard gave a lecture at the 30th Annual Harvard Course, Critical Issues in Tumor Microenvironment: Angiogenesis, Metastasis and Immunology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US.

In June 2015, Professor Pollard delivered a plenary talk at the Cell Symposia: Cancer, Inflammation and Immunity in Sitges, Spain.

In March 2015, Professor Pollard gave an opening Keynote talk at the Keystone Symposia, Dendritic Cells and Macrophages Reunited in Montreal, Canada, he also delivered lectures at the CRUK Cambridge Institute, University of Cambridge and The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

In February 2015, Professor Pollard delivered a plenary talk entitled: “Tumor Associated Macrophages: From Mechanism to Therapy” at the IPSEN Symposium Tumor Heterogeneity and Tumor Microenvironment in Mysore, India and in March 2015 he spoke at the Keystone Symposia, Dendritic Cells and Macrophages Reunited in Montreal, Canada.


In October 2014, Professor Pollard delivered a talk entitled “Diverse Populations of Macrophages promote Metastasis” at the NHRI/IBMS Joint International Conference on Inflammation and Disease in Taiwan. The same month he gave a plenary lecture at the Cell Therapy in Regenerative Medicine and Cancer Immunotherapy Symposium in Seoul, South Korea.

In June 2014, Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk entitled “The Metastatic Cascade – Macrophages lead the way” at the 15th International Biennial Congress of the Metastasis Research Society in Heidelberg, Germany.

In May 2014, Professor Pollard delivered a keynote speech entitled “Chemokine Networks in Macrophage Promotion of Metastasis” at the 24th Nikolas Symposium in Athens, Greece.

In March 2014, Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk at the Nobel Forum Symposium, Frontiers in Cancer Research and Therapy at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The same month he also gave a plenary talk at the Joint Keystone Symposium on Inflammation, Infection and Cancer/Immune Evolution in Cancer in British Columbia, Canada.

In January 2014 Professor Pollard delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Macrophage promotion of tumour progression & metastasis’ at the ISREC Symposium on Metastatic Colonization in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

Professor Pollard in October delivered the Queen Mary’s/Bart’ Cancer Institute Distinguished Guest lecture “Macrophage Diversity Promotes Tumour Progression & Metastasis” .

Professor Pollard was the plenary lecturer at the Warsaw Medical University official inauguration of the academic year 2013 -2014.

Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk at the meeting in October 2013 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Albert Calmette at the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France where he had been Director.  Calmette with Guerin eveloped the BCG vaccine first used in 1921 and it is still the only one to have efficacy against TB particularly in children.  The Lille Pasteur is one of the two such institutes in France and Prof. Pollard also talked at the 120th Anniversary of the Pasteur in Paris and the 100th anniversary of Metchnikoff’s Nobel Prize in 2008.  These two institutions attest to the history for French immunology and also to its ongoing excellence.
