UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Investigator’s Day at IGMM

first UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Investigator’s Day was held at the IGMM building with the support of the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit and the British Society of Gastroenterology: November 2015

On 9th November 2015 the first UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Investigator’s Day was held at the IGMM building with the support of the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit and the British Society of Gastroenterology. The aim of the meeting was to review initial data from two large UK-led investigator studies completed recently (the TOPPIC trial and the CONSTRUCT trial) and to share the experiences of the investigators leading these projects. The meeting also aimed to highlight new studies in the pipeline (including the launch of the MRC funded UK IBD Bioresource) and to encourage early stage researchers and IBD clinicians keen to increase their research activity by sharing good practice and finding out how best to access funding and support.

Despite the best efforts of Storm Abigail, over 70 clinicians and researchers from across the UK attended for the day. The busy programme was highly interactive and included a ‘speed dating’ workshop at lunchtime to trouble shoot new funding proposals.
