Image Dr Cecile Benezech Chancellor's Fellow Some adipose tissues such as the omentum and pericaridum have remarkable immunological and inflammatory functions. The immune and inflammatory properties of these adipose depots derive from the presence of small immune clusters called milky spots in the omentum and fat-associated lymphoid clusters in the pericardium. Our research aim to understand both their immune and inflammatory functions to develop new means of improving immunity in the context of airway infections, controlling inflammation and associated metabolic deregulation in obesity and improving cardiac repair post-myocardiac infarction.
