Edinburgh Cancer Research

2016: The Lady Eda Jardine Charitable Trust

Contribution to our Global Learning and Exchange Fund.

We, at the CRUK Edinburgh Centre, are extremely grateful for the contribution to our Global Learning and Exchange Fund, which has permitted otherwise impossible visits by our young scientists, in particular,  to attend top international conferences.  This has allowed them to present their work on the world stage, to interact with global leaders in cancer research and also, in the case of one of our China Fellows, to visit a top American lab to learn, and bring back, special expertise in ‘activity state’ fluorescent cancer imaging. We should not underestimate the difference this makes to their scientific research training experience, and it generally has the effect of inspiring them to pursue new exciting avenues of research and often influences career choices – by promoting international applications for study in world class overseas labs.
