School teaching

Schools outreach has been a part of the work of EBS since its inception, with events and resources for teachers speaking to the third aspect of our mission: “Promote improved public understanding of Buddhism.” As scholars, we believe we have a responsibility to support teachers in delivering inspiring and accurate content about Buddhism in schools.

Events

  • Events for School Teachers

We run events for school teachers to support deeper engagement with Buddhist Studies, and to guide you in using new and different resources.

Currently, there are no plans or arrangements for the event, please stay tuned for future updates. Once the schedule is confirmed, the information will be made available on this webpage and through our mailing list.

  • Events for Pupils

Edinburgh Buddhist Studies holds Buddhism Discovery Day every year for pupils. This is your chance for Highers and Advanced Highers pupils to meet Buddhist practitioners, attend taster lectures by Buddhist Studies academics, and learn about Buddhism in a relaxed and informative way.

The date and location for Buddhism Discovery Day in 2024 are yet to be determined. Once the event schedule is confirmed, it will be published on this webpage.

    Resources Blog

Our Teaching Buddhism blog provides a growing selection of resources for school teachers and other educators working to communicate Buddhism in new and interesting ways. The resources are created and/or curated by members of EBS and are free to use. Events are also advertised on the blog, and recordings of our teacher webinars are uploaded to the site.
