Information about services offered for rederiving transgenic lines
Under which circumstances is rederivation used?
- Importing established lines from another research facility, when import of live animals is not an option.
- Removing pathogens that exist in a breeding colony that are detrimental to the investigators research.
- Moving animals between BVS facilities with different health status.
- Reviving a line which has been cryopreserved by CTC in the past.
- Deleting a floxed fragment: In vitro TAT-CRE treatment of embryos can be used as an alternative to crossing animals with a constitutive CRE-deleter line.
There are several options for rederivation:
- In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) using fresh or frozen sperm
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) of fresh or frozen sperm
- Embryo transfer using fresh or frozen embryos
