My Name'5 Doddie Foundation donates to MND Research

Congratulations to Professor Thomas Gillingwater (Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences) for his joint award of ~500K from Doddie Weir's 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation'.

Prof Gillingwater’s joint project with Professor Kevin Talbot at Oxford University aims to identify drugs to treat MND from repurposing existing medications that are currently used and licensed in the UK for other medical conditions.

We are massively grateful to the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation for supporting our project. By bringing together two laboratories from Oxford and Edinburgh the Foundation is facilitating cutting-edge researech that will use a combination of complementary techniques and approaches in order to identify effective new drugs for motor neurone disease."

This project will complement work already underway by Professor Siddharthan Chandran from The Euan MacDonald Centre and which has also generously received funding from the Foundation.
