When things go wrong
We can help your studies to stay on track when life throws you unexpected challenges. This guidance is for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences.
Interruption of study
You might need to take some time away from your studies if personal circumstances beyond your control are affecting your ability to study. In this case, you may be able to apply for an authorised Interruption of Study (IoS).
Short coursework extensions
If a short-term acute event means you know you won't be able to submit a written assessment on time, you can apply for a short extension in advance of the coursework deadline.
There are many factors which can have an impact on your academic performance. If you feel that something beyond your control is having a negative effect on your studies, you should talk to your Personal Tutor, Supervisor or Student Support team about submitting an application for Special Circumstances.
