The BMTO Student Support Team are available to help all our postgraduate taught students whether on-campus here in Edinburgh or studying remotely.

What do we do?

We may help you directly or guide you to other sources of information or University services. Areas we can help with include:

  • Wellbeing, illness or mental health difficulties that are affecting your work, assessments or exams.
  • Other issues in your life that are affecting your studies.
  • Accessing support through University services and external agencies. 
  • Applying for special circumstances, including provision of a statement to support your application.
  • Applying for coursework extensions.
  • Information on degree transfers.
  • University policies and regulations.
  • Requesting letters and official documents.

Our Student Support Team are available to support you from Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, UK time.  You can drop by, email or request a meeting online via Microsoft Teams.

We aim to respond to email enquiries as soon as we can, however during busy periods we may take a little longer. Enquiries requiring an urgent response will be prioritised.

If you would like to speak to a member of the Student Support Team during office hours then please contact us by email and we can arrange a digital meeting using MS Teams. We are also available for in-person meetings.

Out-of-hours student support

If you experience a crisis outside normal working hours you can contact the University for support through the University Security 24/7 contact number 0131 650 2257.

This service is intended to support students who are experiencing a welfare crisis that is too urgent to leave until the next working day.
