Committees

The Biomedical Teaching Organisation is involved in a number of committees to further the development of teaching policy and strategy within the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences.

Biomedical Sciences Teaching Management Executive

The Biomedical Sciences Teaching Management Executive (TME) acts as a forum for the development of the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences teaching policy and strategy.

The remit covers undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes and courses. 

The group is convened by the Director of Teaching and reports as appropriate to:

  • the Dean of Biomedical Sciences
  • the Board of Studies
  • the Learning and Teaching Committee
  • the MSc Executive.  

The TME also considers and makes decisions on academic student matters such as transfer requests, concessions and interruptions of study.

Edinburgh Medical School: Biomedical Sciences Board of Studies

The Board of Studies remit considers proposals, changes, or closure of courses, programmes and awards.

The Board of Studies ensures that proposals are academically appropriate and supported by evidence and documentation. It ensures that all interested parties in the University are aware of proposals.

Biomedical Sciences Learning and Teaching Committee

The Biomedical Sciences Learning and Teaching Committee is responsible for shaping and implementing the learning and teaching strategy for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the BMTO.

The Biomedical Sciences Learning and Teaching Committee oversees the quality, breadth and relevance of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate portfolios in line with University strategies.
