Anatomy@Edinburgh

Professional Anatomy Courses

In addition to our commitment to the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, Anatomy@Edinburgh also hosts a range of specialist, professional anatomy courses in collaboration with colleagues at the Edinburgh Teaching Hospitals and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

These courses utilize a combination of embalmed and fresh frozen cadaveric specimens to deliver high quality teaching and training for practicing clinicians and surgeons across a range of specialties.

Current and recent courses

Below is a recent selection of professional courses that have been successfully delivered in our Anatomy Teaching Laboratory facilities:

Regional Anatomy for Core Surgical Trainees (Scotland Deanery)

As part of the 2-year Improving Surgical Training Scottish Pilot (beginning Autumn 2018), we are pleased to be collaborating with the Scotland Deanery to deliver a new programme of Regional Anatomy for Core Surgical Trainees.

This programme will provide a targeted revision of whole-body anatomy, with hands-on practical review of cadaveric material in a small group setting, and will encourage a three-dimensional appreciation of anatomical structure and relationships underpinning physical diagnosis and safe surgery.

Wade Programme in Surgical Anatomy (RCSEd)

We are pleased to collaborate with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the delivery of their Surgical Anatomy Study Day series, which forms part of the Wade Programme in Surgical Anatomy.

These study days provide a comprehensive review of surgical anatomy from both a theoretical and practical perspective, and are aimed at trainees preparing for the MRCS examination. Medical students with a particular interest in surgery or anatomy are also welcome to attend.

Further information about the Wade Programme and booking details for the Study Days are available at the follow links:
