Medicine in the City a new project from the Anatomical Museum, the Centre for Research Collections and Google Arts & Culture

Medicine in the City, 500 years of medical teaching in Edinburgh, celebrates the history of Anatomy and Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.

The Centre for Research Collections, University of Edinburgh, have launched their collaboration with Google Arts & Culture, highlighting the historic collections of the University online for the first time. As part of the project there are 8 online exhibitis, including the history of medicine in Edinburgh, entitled Medicine in the City,  500 years of medical teaching in Edinburgh.

The online exhibit takes you through the history of teaching medicine at the University of Edinburgh, with an array of historic photographs from the collections of the Anatomical Museum, including photos of trailblazing women in medicine. The exhibit allows you to zoom in on photographs and objects in detail and to read about the stories behind the collections.

To mark the launch of this project, a new exhibition Connections//Collections: Sharing Scotland's Stories with the World is taking place in the foyer of the Main Library on George Square, and is open to the public.
