On Tuesday 2nd May, 7 adult Carers and 2 staff from Care for Carers Edinburgh visited our Centre to discuss the TV movie “The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks”. The themes explored in the film - consent and ethics in research, racism – led to an interesting, fruitful discussion afterwards.

Bill Earnshaw, Haonan Liu and Huey Ying kindly answered all the questions the Carers had and engaged with them in a meaningful conversation about the story of Henrietta Lacks, and how HeLa Cells are used in research in the Centre.

Feedback from the Carers was very positive, and we are already planning our next engagement workshop with them. We are taking ‘Tattoo my Science’ at the Carers Annual Open Day Event at Our Dynamic Earth this June!
