Apply for a Masters by Research or MPhil
We offer supervision for research projects agreed with a supervisor lasting a year (MSc by Research) or two years (MPhil).
Masters(MSc) by Research
An MSc by Research is based on a research project tailored to your research interests. It lasts one year full time or two years part time.
The project can be a shorter alternative to an MPhil or PhD, or a precursor to either - including the option of an MSc project expanding into MPhil or doctorate work as it evolves.
Masters of Philosophy (MPhil)
The Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) resembles a PhD but generally takes two years and does not carry the same requirement for original contribution to knowledge.
You'll pursue your individual research project under supervision and submit a thesis.

How to Write a Research Proposal
Whether you are limited to one page (as part of a University application or enquiry form) or are required to produce something more substantial for an external funder, the rules about writing a good research proposal are the same: you want to stand out from the crowd and have the best chance of being selected.
Our guide highlights the "golden rules" and provides tips on how to write a good research application.
