Undergraduate

Special Circumstances

If your coursework or exams have been affected by circumstances beyond your control, such as injury, illness or mental health issues you can apply for special circumstances.

At its best, University life is rich and rewarding, but all of us go through difficult times or have circumstances that can affect our studies.

Part of our commitment to you, as a member of our University community, is that we are there to help if you are affected by circumstances beyond your control.

The advice below is mainly aimed at Biological Sciences students. If you are from another School, please contact your Teaching Organisation for more information.

Application Deadlines

The deadline for applying for Special Circumstances is published by the Extensions and Special Circumstances Service.

You should apply as soon as you can once you are aware of the problem, or once the affected work has been submitted.
