The School continues to be a top performer as judged by both Research and Teaching Quality Assessment Exercises.

These results show that Edinburgh maintains a prominent place amongst leading UK universities in the Biological Sciences unit of assessment.

Research

In the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise, 90% our research was classified as being of international quality in its originality, significance and rigour, with 15% of our output classed as exceptional and "world-leading" in its originality and significance.

Teaching

In the most recent Teaching Quality Assessment exercise, both our subject groupings, Cell & Molecular Biology and Organismal Biology, were rated "excellent" overall and in all components.
