Digital Research Services Lunchtime Webinars

Research computing services play a key role in interpretation and analysis of research data across disciplines and domains, enabling computations at an otherwise unachievable scale. The University of Edinburgh provides access to a range of local, regional and national High Performance Computing facilities, in addition to controlled environments with encryption and restricted access for the secure analysis of highly sensitive and personal data. At the same time, new services such as text and data mining are being developed. The above, in combination with the Edinburgh Carpentries initiative, which builds capacity in essential data and computational skills for conducting efficient, open, and reproducible research can support researchers at the University of Edinburgh in excelling digital research projects.

Join colleagues from Research Services, the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre, the Software Sustainability Institute and the Research Data Support for a discussion around services and support available relevant to High Performance and research computing, analysis of personal and sensitive data, text and data mining, and digital research skills development.

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • have a better understanding of the research computing facilities available
  • be introduced to services for the analysis of sensitive and personal data
  • be updated on recent service developments in text and data mining
  • find out how you can join the Edinburgh Carpentry community, promote and facilitate data and computational skills courses.
