DSTI Pathways
The Data Science, Technology and Innovation programme allows you to choose the courses that suit you best.
When you join the programme you have the freedom to create your own pathway from a variety of options. We've crafted these example pathways to help you explore the range of courses available. The only courses compulsory to take are Practical Introduction to Data Science and if pursuing the full MSc the appropriate dissertation preparation course for your chosen school.
The rest is up to you!

The courses in this pathway are ideal if you are interested in understanding how data science can be applied in multiple fields.
This cluster of courses offer a comprehensive overview of the range of applications for data science and will give you a broad and deep knowledge of the data science landscape.
Among the courses you will study are:
- Practical Introduction to Data Science

This pathway is ideal for you if your existing skillset does not demonstrate a strong technical programming background.
This assembly of courses provides a solid grounding in the computing skills and algorithmic reasoning necessary for modern data analysis. You will learn how to extract knowledge from data in different forms and how to develop and deploy data-driven insights.
Among the courses you will study are:

- Working with data types and structures in Python and R

In this pathway, you will discover how data science and high performance computing (HPC) can help you tackle complex challenges that involve massive amounts of data and computation. You will learn how the power of supercomputers are harnessed to process and analyse data faster and more efficiently.
