Join the Bayes Centre in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge

The Bayes Centre is organising the Scottish team for the NASA International Space Apps Challenge and looking for problem solvers to join up.

Bayes and NASA

On October 2-3, NASA is inviting coders, entrepreneurs, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists, and technologists to participate in a virtual hackathon - The NASA International Space Apps Challenge. During a period of 48 hours, participants from around the world will form virtual teams and use Earth observation data to develop solutions to issues our world is facing.

All participants will receive a certificate and winners will have the chance to win prizes that include the chance to attend a spacecraft launch!

Space Apps is for everyone! This includes those who have never ‘hacked’ before! All passionate problem solvers are encouraged to join - students, experts, engineers, makers, artists, and storytellers. While some of the challenges are technical, others ask you to use your artistic skills, your business acumen, and your historical imaginations!

You are invited to join the Scottish team, organised through the University of Edinburgh’s Bayes Centre, to take on NASA’s free and open data and address real-world problems on Earth and in space. No matter your expertise and skills, be a part of this incredible effort.

As well as team members, mentors are required, so if you have an interest in helping the team, then please get in touch, or come to our information session.

After the hackathon, project submissions are judged by space agency experts and winners are selected for one of 10 Global Awards. Once travel is deemed safe, winning teams will receive a NASA invitation, which could potentially include viewing a spacecraft launch at a NASA facility.

If you enjoy solving problems, are creative, are interested in space or data or simply want to know more, then come to our information session or join the Scottish team, organised through the Bayes Centre.
