New Student Enterprise Hub an instant hit

Edinburgh Innovations’ new Student Enterprise Hub has proven a hit with entrepreneurial students and recent graduates.

The Hub, by the entrance to Appleton Tower on Chapel Street, is a space for students to meet and work on their enterprises, as well as a venue for EI to deliver events and services, such as one-to-one business adviser meetings.

Opening in time for Welcome Week, the hub has already hosted start-up and social enterprise workshops and a "Welcome to Your Student Enterprise Service" event.

The Enterprise Hub offers a welcoming 'one stop shop' for would be entrepreneurs in the University. It is providing navigation through the University and Edinburgh Innovation support ecosystem and signposting to the Wayra AI & Blockchain Accelerator Programme, based in the Bayes Centre. I have seen an increase in referrals from the hub in the last few weeks and this is helping identify the best innovators in the AI & Blockchain space for future Accelerator calls.

Making Connections

An important function of the Hub is to serve as a space for students to meet independently, discuss their business ideas, get feedback and even find co-founders.

Informatics Ventures and EIE were at the genesis of the tech entrepreneur ecosystem here in Edinburgh and we still remain very much at the heart of it. Our presence in this brilliant new Hub underlines this and furthers our commitment to entrepreneurship right here in the aspirational Data Capital of Europe.
