The Bayes Centre Building has been named among 14 winners of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) national architecture awards.

The RIAS Awards demonstrate the quality and breadth of architectural endeavour in Scotland and any architectural project can win one of the awards, so buildings must be outstanding to suceed. Buildings are assessed by an expert jury who look at each project’s architectural integrity, usability and context, delivery and execution, and sustainability.

The Bayes Centre building was designed by Bennetts Associates and was officially opened in October 2018 by University of Edinburgh Chancellor HRH The Princess Royal.

The building provides space for approximately 650 researchers, students and external partners over five floors, the Centre’s impressive space is open in design, providing interactive places for occupants from across academia, industry and the public sector to foster relationships. Due to this deliberate design, the Centre creates a collaborative community which works in synergy to unlock pioneering advances in data science and artificial intelligence.

Since opening, the Bayes Centre has fostered an innovative data driven eco-system, providing ease of access to academic and research expertise, students and other collaborating partner organisations with space to get creative with one another.

The Centre offers a range of co-location options, including a Membership option, which is perfect for businesses at the start of their development journey and a Partnership option for those a little further along in their journey. A wide range of services are available to residents, including business development support, collaboration opportunities, a range of marketing and events opportunities and, of course, access to the award winning building.

The Bayes Centre building has previously won the 'Large Project' Award at the 2019 Edinburgh Architectural Association Awards.

The winners of the RIAS Awards will become the ‘longlist’ for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award.

We’re delighted that the Bayes Centre has been named as one of Scotland’s architectural buildings of the year. This is testament to the incredible design by Bennett Associates, helping us to create a unique community of data-driven organisations that have thrived by building relationships and working collaboratively, in a way that could not have otherwise occurred. We look forward to continuing to work with our co-located members and partners, recognising the additional 'in-person' benefits associated with the start of the new academic year.
