Collider: Digitising our World Heritage Site

We do not fully know the condition of the buildings of our historic city centre or its neighbouring historic areas. A full, traditional survey would be prohibitively expensive making it more difficult to make informed decisions around where to focus the limited grant monies available for conservation and repair. How might we supplement traditional expertise and techniques to undertake a thorough survey of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site using new data technologies to help prioritise and make the case for appropriate funding. Join us for an afternoon of ideation and inspiration with Edinburgh World Heritage, Design Informatics and DDI.

A Collider is a conceptual design event, bringing together computational thinking and design thinking, to pull informaticians together with designers and problem holders.  At the start of the Collider we will set the scene with a challenge statement from Adam Wilkinson Director of Edinburgh World Heritage. This will be followed by three inspirational talks, before breaking out into workshop sessions.

Registration and tea/coffee will begin from 09:00 with the event starting at 09:30 until 12:30 followed by a networking lunch.

Event is free but places are limited so please sign up in advance via Eventbrite.
