Bayes Centre

Bayes Corporate Accelerator

The Bayes Corporate AI & Blockchain Accelerator is run in partnership between the University of Edinburgh and Wayra, combining the University’s technical & research expertise with Wayra’s commercial connectedness to London’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and Telefonica.

The programme is sponsored by CISCO and supported by Scottish Enterprise, providing additional Scotland wide businesses support.

The Wayra and University of Edinburgh’s AI and Blockchain Programme is designed to accelerate the best AI & Blockchain start-ups in Europe to scale globally.  The programme aims to attract disruptive pre-incorporated and incorporated start-ups that apply AI & Blockchain with high-growth potential while helping them grow into world-leading companies. Telefónica is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies; the University of Edinburgh, is home to the largest centres for computing science and informatics in Europe; and Cisco is the worldwide leader in IT and networking.  The programme hosts two cohorts of up to ten start-ups a year, based in the Bayes Centre.

AI and Blockchain technology has the potential to transform industries delivering positive impacts for humans through a wider range of innovation areas; including Financial Services, Health Tech, Clean Tech, Legal Tech and AI for Good.  As part of our mission to support entrepreneurship, the programme seeks to work with new AI or Blockchain start-ups with high growth potential who:

  • offer next-generation solutions using AI or Blockchain technologies that are better, safer and cheaper than existing products.
  • are using innovative techniques to solve a known problem.
  • can make a difference now rather than focussing on developing longer-term research proposals.
  • have an active UK (ideally Scottish) presence including a UK/Scottish registered business or are willing to locate here.
