Bayes Centre

Data Science Consultancy Unit

We recognise that data skills can be hard to come by in the market, particularly in novel domains. We also know that there is sometimes some up front technical work that’s required to test the feasibility and inform the scope of larger, complex projects which is why we have set up the Data Science Consultancy Unit at Bayes.

Data Science Consultancy Unit

Data Science Consultancy Unit (DSCU) provides a point of entry for engaging with University staff and students to work on collaborative projects. We are a rapid-response interdisciplinary team that can quickly engage with high-impact strategic collaborative research opportunities.

What we do

There is often up-front technical work required to test the feasibility and inform the scope of larger, complex projects. However, we recognise that data skills can be hard to come by in the market, particularly in novel domains. This is why we have set up the Data Science Consultancy Unit at Bayes, to support emerging strategic industrial R&D relationships between the University and our external partners in all areas of Data Driven Innovation.

We provide the following services:

Industry engagement

  • Feasibility and scoping service for major projects in data driven innovation
  • Triaging data driven innovation collaborative opportunities and supporting rapid project roll-out

Academic research support

  • Technical data science support in delivering collaborative research projects with external partners
  • Consultation service for technical elements of research bid development

Innovation

  • Innovation support for (prospective) Bayes members and partners, including supporting Innovation Vouchers, Impact Acceleration Accounts and other Government grants for start-ups and SMEs
  • Setting up and managing joint Innovation Labs for long-term strategic collaborative programmes
