Submission Requirements for DClin Psychology Students

Notification of Intention to Submit (NITS)

DClin Psychology Students should submit a Notification of Intention to Submit form and Abstract before submitting their thesis

  • 1 Notice of Intention to Submit NITS form, signed by your Academic Supervisor* The title on your NITS form must be the final thesis title. If the title changes after the NITS form has been submitted, you will need to re-submit the form, ensuring it shows the correct title.  (please ignore the 2 month before your submission deadline - this is for PhD only) *if your supervisor is unable to add their electronic signature to the NITS form, you can attach an email from them confirming they are aware of your intention to submit
  • 1 Thesis Abstract form

The completed forms should be uploaded using the following link:

Submit your Completed Notice of Intention to Submit (NITS) and Abstract

Submission of your Thesis

On your submission date, you are required to submit the following by 12pm, midday, noon:

  • 1 electronic copy of the thesis submitted in the Pre-Viva Submissions Turnitin inbox in the DClinPsychol Thesis Learn space. This submission must include an abstract and a lay summary.

We only require an electronic thesis to be submitted.  You do not need to print and bind your thesis.

The Declaration of Own Work is completed before you can submit to Turnitin in the same way your coursework assignments were, so you don't need to worry about a separate form as mentioned in the thesis handbook.

Watch your word count

Please notify the Programme Administrator tim.abbot@ed.ac.uk  if your final word count is over 30,000 words.  If the word count is above that permitted for your programme (30,000 words for DClin Psychology), a Concession for this additional wordcount must be approved before submission - otherwise the thesis will be returned.

For further information about the DClin thesis submission and viva process please refer to the DClinPsychol Thesis Learn space.

Please contact tim.abbot@ed.ac.uk or cahss.PGRExams@ed.ac.uk if you have any queries.
