Costume drama

In five shows over two days, graduating students will showcase their colourful designs through a series of evocative performances.

Their jaw-dropping costumes are designed for a range of productions for theatre, film, opera, dance, puppetry, circus and their own invented stories.

Platform for succes

Many performance costume graduates have gone on to follow successful careers in film, TV and theatre across the world.

Recent highlights include working on children’s blockbuster Paddinton 2, Disney’s Artemis Fowl and Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs.

Others have gone on to work at the Royal Opera House, V & A Museum, Scottish Opera, and Northern Ballet.

Emma O Loughlin graduated in 2010 and won a BAFTA and Emmy award in 2017 for her role as assistant costume designer on the acclaimed dramas Game of Thrones and The Crown.

Emily Bates, who graduated in 2015, is young associate designer for choreographer Mathew Bourne and Lez Brotherstone’s New Adventures. She is soon to start designing costumes for the Danish National Opera.
