2018 programme

Lively programme

Festival highlights include tours of Edinburgh landmarks in Gaelic, a workshop showcasing Gaelic manuscripts and a playgroup that teaches children simple Gaelic words.

A Gaelic Fair will take place on Saturday 3 November in the Grassmarket Community Centre.

The event offers people a chance find out about Gaelic-related activities in the city from local groups, while enjoying refreshments and live music from local band An Conasg.

Traditional tunes

The programme also features several music gigs in pubs and other venues across the city.

A free children’s concert with traditional Scottish music will take place in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Collaborative effort

The Edinburgh Gaelic Festival (Seachdain na Gàidhlig)  is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers and is supported by Gaelic officers from the University and Iomairt Dhùn Èideann (the Edinburgh Gaelic initiative).

Many events are free to attend and welcome to non-Gaelic speakers.
