Employers back our graduates

A survey of key international employers rates the University as one of the world’s best for producing quality graduates.

Edinburgh is ranked 15th for employability in the QS World University Rankings - one of the most widely recognised global comparisons of higher education providers.

High quality graduates

The strong performance - based on a survey of nearly 17,000 employers - has contributed to Edinburgh’s position of 20th overall in the 2011 QS Rankings, which are announced today (5 September).

The overall ranking also takes into account a university’s academic reputation, research impact, student/staff ratio and its percentage of international staff and students.

Employer endorsement of Edinburgh graduates is backed up by the University’s strong showing in the latest graduate employment figures published this summer by the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

Employers endorsement

Statistics show that 94.5 per cent of 2009/10 students leaving Edinburgh were either in employment or further study six months after graduating. The figure is the highest in the prestigious Russell Group of Britain’s leading research intensive universities.

This latest endorsement of our graduates’ employability, which comes from leading organisations around the world, is an indication of the high regard in which our graduates are held. This endorsement is borne out by our excellent track record in helping students to find employment once they have completed their studies.”
