National Senior Certificate
Grade 6 (70%) or higher in at least 4 NSC subjects (Life Orientation is not accepted) plus grade 4 (50%) in English as Home Language or English as First Language.
Subject specific requirements
Where we ask applicants taking Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Highers and National 5s for specific subjects we will ask you for comparable subjects in your qualifications. Subject specific requirements are as follows:
Acoustics and Music Technology
Grade 7 (80%) in Mathematics** plus grade 6 (70%) in Physics.
Architecture
Grade 6 (70%) in Mathematics**.
It is preferable that applicants provide evidence of artistic ability through assessed work. If applicants are unable to offer this evidence, and the applicants appears otherwise qualified, a portfolio will likely be requested.
Business School degrees and joint degrees with Business
Grade 5 (60%) in Mathematics**.
Cognitive Science
Grade 6 (70%) in Mathematics**.
Economics, joint degrees with Economics and degrees which include Quantitative Methods
Grade 6 (70%) in Mathematics**.
Degrees which require A at A Level in Mathematics: grade 7 (80%) in Mathematics**.
English/Scottish Literature and joint degrees with English/Scottish Literature
Grade 6 (70%) in Home Language English (English as First Additional Language not accepted).
Landscape Architecture
Grade 4 (50*) in Maths** or science.
It is preferable that applicants provide evidence of artistic ability through assessed work. If applicants are unable to offer this evidence, and the applicants appears otherwise qualified, a portfolio will likely be requested.
Language degrees and joint degrees with a Language
Please check the degree finder for the language specific requirements and ensure the offer matches these requirements:
If A-level B required: grade 6 (70%)
If GCSE A required: grade 6 (70%)
If GCSE B required: grade 5 (60%)
Please note that for degrees that have a subject requirement of a language other than English, students may not use their own native language to meet this requirement. In these instances, English or an alternative language other than native will be acceptable.
Law and joint degrees with Law
Grade 6 (70%) in English (Home/First language or First Additional Language).
Nursing Studies
Grade 4 (50%) in Mathematics**.
Psychology (BSc) and joint MA degrees with Psychology
Grade 6 (70%) in Mathematics**.
If Mathematics** is not achieved at grade 6, then it must be achieved at grade 5 (60%) in addition to grade 6 in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, Physics or Psychology.
**Please note Mathematic Literacy is not accepted in lieu of Mathematics.
Other qualifications
Applicants who have taken the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCE A levels should visit the degree finder for our minimum entry requirements.
