The University welcomes applicants with high school qualifications from India.

Standard XII

CISCE: Indian School Certificate Standard XII with an overall grade of 80% and three subjects at 75%, including English.

CBSE: All India Senior School Certificate Examination Standard XII with an overall grade of 80% and three subjects at 75%, including English.

Students who have completed the Standard XII through any other exam board are required to undertake a Foundation Programme for entry as this qualification does not meet our minimum entry requirement.

Subject specific requirements

Where we ask applicants taking Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Highers and National 5s for specific subjects we will ask you for comparable subjects in your qualifications. Subject specific requirements for applicants are as follows:

Acoustics and Music Technology

85% in Standard XII Mathematics plus 75% in Standard XII Physics.

Architecture

75% in Standard XII Mathematics.

It is preferable that applicants provide evidence of artistic ability through assessed work. If applicants are unable to offer this evidence, and the applicants appears otherwise qualified, a portfolio will likely be requested.

Business degrees and joint degrees with Business

70% in Standard XII Mathematics.

Cognitive Science

75% in Standard XII Maths.

Economics, joint degrees with Economics and degrees which include Quantitative Methods

75% in Standard XII Mathematics.

Degrees which require A at A Level in Mathematics: 85% in Standard XII Mathematics

English/Scottish Literature and joint degrees with English/Scottish Literature

75% in Elective English in grade 12 (Functional and Core English not accepted)

Landscape Architecture

60% in Standard XII Maths or science.

It is preferable that applicants provide evidence of artistic ability through assessed work. If applicants are unable to offer this evidence, and the applicants appears otherwise qualified, a portfolio will likely be requested.

Language degrees and joint degrees with a Language

If A-level B required: a language other than native at 75% in grade XII.

If GCSE A required: a language other than native at 75% in grade XII.

If GCSE B required: a language other than native at 70% in grade XII.

Please note that for degrees that have a subject requirement of a language other than English, students may not use their own native language to meet this requirement. In these instances, English or an alternative language other than native will be acceptable.

Law and joint degrees with Law

75% in Standard XII English.

Nursing Studies

60% in Standard XII Maths.

Psychology (BSc) and joint MA degrees with Psychology

75% in Standard XII Maths.

Applicants who have taken the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or GCE A levels should visit the degree finder for our minimum entry requirements.

Please note that some of our programmes are competitive, particularly those in the Business School, and so we may need to use additional selection criteria. Your referee should include full grade predictions for all subjects being taken in SXII.
