Your time at the University
I chose Edinburgh because of family ties to Scotland and because the company I was working for at the time received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and the Scottish Asian Women’s Award. I had been working on complex contracts in the biopharmaceutical sector with regards to licensing and co-development. An in-depth education in law at Edinburgh helped me excel in my profession while strengthening existing ties to Scotland. The campus is gorgeous and who can resist the “dramatic” Scottish landscape and weather?
Your experiences since leaving the University
I am a senior-level scientist with 23 years of experience including as General Manager of public companies, overseeing up to 38 countries, 3,900 employees, $1.6 billion portfolio, and organic growth of over 42% per year.
Reading law at Edinburgh has extended my abilities as a highly analytical decision-maker with extensive experience in building and operating companies, along with proven history of increasing sales/productivity, turning around difficult situations.
I was already a seasoned executive with in-depth understanding of drug development and their commercialization, as well as global business expertise, having been based out of Europe, Asia, and the USA. Edinburgh’s contribution to my career has been to expand my perspective in licensing and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) deals in the highly regulated and dynamic sector of healthcare.
I am currently the University of Edinburgh President of the Singapore Alumni Club – we aim to engage the alumni community with the University and with the various initiatives that benefit alumni and the broader Edinburgh network.

Alumni wisdom
My one piece of advice to students would be to broaden one’s perspective: beyond one’s field of study, beyond one’s home country, beyond one’s chosen profession, and beyond one’s network. A multifaceted perspective and outlook provides a differentiating competitive edge and enriches one’s experience in life.
