Menopause Ribbon Campaign
Alumna Rachel Weiss is calling on fellow graduates to join the Menopause Ribbon Campaign on 18 October 2024.
Rachel Weiss (MSc Knowledge Based Systems, 1990) co-founded the Menopause Café, a charity dedicated to fostering open discussions about menopause, supporting those experiencing it, and raising awareness about this significant life transition. She is calling on fellow alumni to join the Menopause Ribbon Campaign on 18 October 2024.
A message from Rachel:
This October, we’re excited to kick off a global conversation about menopause, and we need your help to make it happen.
Menopause impacts half of the population directly and the rest indirectly. Despite its prevalence, it remains a topic often cloaked in silence and stigma. Our Menopause Ribbon Campaign, launching in October to coincide with World Menopause Day on 18 October, 2024, aims to change that. By wearing our ribbon, you signal your willingness to talk about menopause, helping to break the silence and reduce the stigma associated with it.
We’re asking everyone to wear our menopause ribbon this October and participate in our campaign launch. Your support can help us reach a broader audience, encouraging more people to speak up, share tips, and seek support.
We have several exciting initiatives lined up:
- Ribbon Distribution: We will distribute cloth and enamel ribbons through our online shop, workplaces, and retail outlets.
- Digital Ribbons: We’re developing digital ribbons for email signatures and social media profiles to spread the word online.
Here’s how you can join us:
- Support Our Cause: Contact us at chairperson@menopausecafe.net to discuss how you can get involved.
- Social Media Campaign: Film a short clip of yourself saying “support the cause: menopause” and send it to us with permission to use it in our social media campaign.
- Host a Menopause Café: Organise a Menopause Café in October 2024 for your colleagues, friends, and neighbours to foster open discussions.
- Purchase your Awareness Ribbons from the Menopause Café.
By wearing our ribbon, you’ll be showing your support for those going through menopause and helping to start important conversations. We hope you’ll join us in this campaign and help make menopause a part of everyday conversation. Together, we can make a significant impact. Let’s start talking about menopause this October!
