University of Edinburgh Short Courses
The University’s short courses offer a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge and skill in a wide variety of areas with the added bonus of 10% discount for alumni.
Short courses are typically offered as short evening or daytime classes, held over 10 or 11 consecutive weeks.

Claim your discount
To claim your 10% alumni discount please either show your alumni card when booking in person at the Office of Lifelong Learning Reception at Paterson’s Land, or use your MyEd Alumni Portal login details to claim the 10% discount when booking online.
Venues and booking
Many courses take place at Paterson’s Land on the Holyrood campus, and the University partners with the Filmhouse cinema, the National Museum of Scotland and other organisations and venues across the city.
You can enrol and pay course fees online or in person.
If you have previously set up an account with the Office of Lifelong Learning prior to becoming eligible for a discount, you will need to set up a new one by logging in with your alumni credentials. Please note that the discount will not be applied if you book online without using your secure MyEd Alumni Portal login details.
If you have taken a short course for credit study since graduation our online booking system is currently not applying your alumni discount for additional short courses. Please contact the Office of Lifelong Learning directly if this applies to you.
