Due to Covid-19 access to the University libraries is restricted until further notice to University Students, Staff, Official Visitors and NHS Lothian staff.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply to join the Library or renew membership as a Library member under any other category at the moment.

Library services

How to join

You can apply to become a library member at any library Helpdesk of our larger site libraries, during staffed hours.

You will need to:

  • Complete an online registration form
  • Provide appropriate proof of identity (including photographic ID and confirmation of current address in the past three months)

Once you show your documents at the Helpdesk, the application will be processed and your borrowing card  will be issued immediately. Please note that card issues can only be made prior to 20 minutes before the Helpdesk closes.
