Season 6 of Multi Story Edinburgh launches on 30 September 2024. Join our student host, Matt O'Malley, as he sits down with our newest alumni to uncover the realities of graduation.
Multi Story Edinburgh is a student-produced podcast that features snapshots of life as a new graduate. Each episode features a different path and a different story. In this season Matt speaks to five recent graduates from the Class of 2024 about the ins and outs of post-graduation life.

Toby, MA English Literature
Matt speaks to Toby Appleyard, an aspiring screenwriter who is determined to persevere in an industry that has no playbook. They cover the strangeness of graduating and the conflicting desires for stability and pursuing one’s dream. Toby looks forwards to a screenwriting masters at Screen Academy Scotland.
Jenna, BVM&S Veterinary Medicine and Surgery
Jenna Kibler breaks down what it means to study veterinary medicine and the choices that one can take in this seemingly prescribed path. Jenna also reflects on studying in UK and the bittersweetness of moving back to the United States. Jenna looks forward to working in a small animal hospital in New Hampshire.
Ammir, BSc Computer Science
Ammir Barakat speaks on the surrealness of graduating, being independent, and how he plans on navigating a whole new way of living with his move to London. Following his internship with a financial firm, Ammir looks forward working in finance full-time.
Brigid, MA Archaeology and Social Anthropology
Brigid Golden shares her experience of a quick turnaround from student work to her full-time graduate job. Matt and Brigid also talk about the difficulties of finding jobs that align with their degrees, with digging now taking a backseat in Brigid’s new role. Brigid is currently thriving at a local charity that works to preserve Edinburgh’s build heritage.
Ben, MChemPhys Chemical Physics
Ben Tan shares his experience of working life after his industrial placement at Pfizer in Canterbury. Matt nods his head as Ben sheds light on the cutting-edge research in computational chemistry he will continue with as he looks forward to starting his PhD back in Edinburgh.
