Social Responsibility and Sustainability

Climate change

The University of Edinburgh has committed to become zero carbon by 2040. The University's Climate Strategy 2016 lays out a comprehensive whole institution approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation in order to achieve its ambitious targets.

Utilities currently cost the University approximately £20M per annum and the University has a duty to reduce its carbon footprint.  This is a significant Social Responsibility and Sustainability challenge for the University in the years ahead.
