The SRS Student Forum gives students an informal space to share ideas, explore opportunities to work together, and discuss social responsibility and sustainability issues that impact their day to day life at University.
In the final SRS Student Forum of this academic year we'll be discussing racism - both historical and present day - and asking what more can be done to ensure race equality in our University community.
We are delighted to announce that the University's recently-appointed Professor of Black Studies, Celeste-Marie Bernier, will kick off the discussion with a talk entitled "Life at Stake: Imagining Slavery, Imagining Freedom in Black Histories, Memories and Narratives".
Following a short Q&A, we will then hear from University and Student Association representatives, as well as the student Black and Minority Ethnic Liberation Group, on what forms racism has taken at the University, followed by what is being done to tackle it.
All University staff and students are welcome to attend.
