Social Responsibility and Sustainability

Opportunities for students

Students are central to the Sustainability Awards and can take part in their own award categories or volunteer.

Our Student and Student Residence Awards launched in September 2015.

Student Awards 2017-18

Sustainability Awards Ceremony 2017 Students from ECA fabric reuse project

Any groups of students and student societies can enter the Student Award. The award recognises projects that contribute towards social responsibility and sustainability in the 2017-18 academic year. You’ll get the chance to network with other student groups taking action and to make a difference to the way you do things.

The deadline for entering the award and submitting evidence is Monday 26th February 2018 - please note this is an extended deadline.

Those student groups or student societies entering the Student Award are asked to complete a final report for their project. Teams are advised to use the provided report template.

Student Residence Awards 2017-18

If you are a student living in University accommodation, you can enter your residence for an Award and work with your neighbours and Resident Assistant. Teams will be able to work towards Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

We’ll also be looking for students to volunteer as auditors for the Student Residence Awards. As an auditor, you will receive training and valuable experience in a recognised and transferable skill.

Only those teams who have secured Silver in the previous year can obtain a Gold Award.

Office Awards Volunteers

Although the Office Awards are staff-focused, student volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the scheme. There are two volunteer roles available which will be advertised later in the year.

  • Project Assistants: Many Office Awards teams take on Project Assistant volunteers to help support their Office Awards efforts.
  • Student Auditors: Student Auditors help audit our Office Awards teams. As an auditor, you will receive full training and valuable experience in a recognised and transferable skill.
