Strategy 2030

HR and Finance Transformation

The University has introduced a new system called People and Money to support HR and finance services. The programme that managed this work, which ran from 2017 to 2022, was called HR and Finance Transformation.

HR and Finance Transformation programme

The first phase of our new HR services went live in November 2020. This introduced new processes for annual leave, the recruitment and induction of staff, job changes, work schedules and leaving the University.

This was followed by new processes for Guaranteed Hours contracts in July 2021 and by new apps for staff learning, skills and qualifications in November 2021.

Payroll services launched in April 2022, allowing colleagues to view and download payslips, P60s, to process guaranteed hours, additional hours and overtime, and to record all types of leave in the system.

The final stage of the programme was the delivery of our new finance services in August 2022. People and Money is now used for ordering goods and services, claiming expenses, line manager financial approvals, financial coding and post-award financial management of research grants. However, we know that there is more to do on our finance system and we are listening to feedback and keeping our community updated.

Next steps

We continue to make progress with our finance service.

An Enactment Group, involving leaders from all Colleges and Professional Services groups and co-chaired by Vice-Principals Catherine Martin and Dave Robertson, is overseeing this work.

A University-wide Implementation Group leads on adapting to these changes in each local area, with support from the Enactment Group.
