Strategy 2030

Growing Research Together

Growing Research Together will design a future University research support ecosystem that enables us to thrive in an increasingly fast-changing and competitive funding environment.

Programme goals

  • Align research support services to fully underpin University research goals, enabling our 7600 researchers to have significant impact in the world.
  • Make best use of our commitment and investment in research support, providing clear and accessible services which enable our researchers to deliver outstanding research.
  • Ensure we safely manage our research income – one third of the University’s revenue – and meet our regulatory obligations.
  • Build research management and administration as a profession across the University, providing career pathways and enabling our research professional services colleagues to become the best they can be.

Governance

The programme governance is led by senior staff from our researcher community, professional services research support community, and staff representing specific key specialisms aiming to improve research support such as technology, human resource management and professional services.

Programme Executive Leadership is provided by our Provost Professor Kim Graham, Director of Finance Lee Hamill, Vice-Principal Research and Enterprise Professor Christina Boswell, and Director of Edinburgh Research Office Dr. Lorna Thomson.

Team

Growing Research Together has a small Programme Team dedicated to working with a broad network of colleagues from across the research community to co-create our future research support ecosystem.
