Gaelic Language Plan
Interested in learning Gaelic, or just learning more about it? Here are some opportunities from the University.
In April 2011, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the public body established to promote Gaelic and improve the status of the language in Scotland, asked us to produce a Gaelic Language Plan.
In August 2011, the University set up a Gaelic Language Plan Working Group chaired by Frank Gribben, College Registrar in Humanities and Social Science. The Working Group is responsible to the Central Management Group for the development and implementation of the University of Edinburgh’s Gaelic Language Plan.
The University was successful in receiving part-funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig to run an all-staff and all-student questionnaire.
The University undertook a 6-week public consultation on its Gaelic Language Plan throughout June and July 2012.
