Pre-mating sheep tests

For ewes, rams and post-weaning lambs, blood sampling for trace elements can be invaluable in late summer.

  • The focus at this time of year is on groups of ewes and rams to assess that they are in optimum condition for mating.
  • For lambs, it is of benefit to ensure trace element or disease problems are not affecting growth rates.

Blood tubes required

We require two green topped (Lithium Heparin) vaccutainers from each sheep.

A minimum 5 animals in each group and a minimum of 10 animals should be sampled with each test.

Information required

Please complete a seperate sheep input form for each group of sheep tested.
