Introduction
We have around 170 exchange places for students from partner universities outside Europe.
You must obtain permission from your university to apply to Edinburgh under the international exchange programme.
Please search our database to see if we have an exchange agreement with your university.
When can I study at Edinburgh?
Most of our exchange agreements are for the full academic year.

What can I study at Edinburgh?
There is a huge range of courses within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Science and Engineering.
Some exchange agreements are subject specific. In this case, you would be expected to take the majority of your courses in this subject area.
Check with your study abroad advisor or international officer at your university for advice.
English language requirements
If you are a non-native English speaker you should have a good level of English to be able to follow the academic courses.
However we also have a programme which might be appropriate for you if you are looking to improve your English and possibly take some academic courses. Please speak to your exchange coordinator to see if this would be an option for you.
Accommodation
We guarantee accommodation to international exchange students for the full year or a single semester.
Once you have been made an offer to study at the University, you can make your online application for accommodation.
