Credits and transcripts
Course credits help you keep track of your achievements, and are listed on your Academic Transcript.
Credits

| Single semester | 60 credits |
The majority of courses are worth 20 credits but there are full year courses worth 40 credits and others worth 10 credits, most of which are in Science and Engineering subjects.
The number of courses may vary but most students will find that they take three courses per semester.
ECTS credits
For European students: 120 Edinburgh credits are equal to 60 ECTS credits.
Academic Transcript
On completion of your time at Edinburgh you will receive a copy of your academic transcript.
This will list your courses and the results that you have achieved. We will also send a copy of your transcript to your home university.
When will we send your transcript?
We send out transcripts at the following times of year:
- February - for semester one students
- July - for full year and semester 2 students
