Admissions briefing sessions
We are aware of the important role that teachers and careers staff play in advising students applying to university.
To support you in this role and provide you with up to date and accurate information on admission to Edinburgh we hold a programme of admissions briefing sessions.
Who are the events for?
The events are aimed at UK school and college teaching and careers staff involved in Higher Education guidance.
As the admissions sessions focus on entry qualifications, we have themed each session for SQA or GCE/IB/Pre-U student advisers.
The events cover various topics including:
- Admissions policies: what the University is trying to achieve via its admissions policies, and why.
- Application processes: competition for places, deferred entry, advanced entry, multiple applications, special circumstances, transfers from course to course, personal statements.
- Selection and offer-making: evaluation of qualifications, including qualifications taken early, breadth of study, contextual data, special circumstances, equal consideration and the gathered field, differential offer-making.
2012 sessions
Select a link to book a place. Sessions in England will deal with GCE qualifications. The Edinburgh session will be relevant for advisers in both the GCE and SQA systems.
